Roller and Special Chains

Roller chains are designed mainly for drives in machines, i.e. for transmitting motion to the various rotating parts. In general they are fully standardized to DIN, ISO, BS and other standards. There are also drive chains to factory standards, which also largely overlap between manufacturers. Some standard roller chains also serve as the basis for conveyor chains, when various vertical or side bent attachments or extended pins are fitted to them at the factory.

The situation is different with the many types of special chains. For some of them there are also set standards – for example for standard conveyor chains, gall chains, bush chains, scraper chains, etc. At the same time, however, many other conveyor and scraper chains – are in demand and on offer – conveyor chains with specific attachments, with toothed surfaces, with special polymer carrying profiles, forged fork-head scraper chains, all kinds of scrapers, etc.

There is particular variety in special chains made to customer drawings – there every chain is unique, with its own requirements and parameters matching the customer’s specific machine and operating conditions. For the right choice of materials, heat treatment, etc. it is therefore very important that, when enquiring, the customer states the specific operating conditions as well as the chain parameters. To make this easier for our customers, we have developed a detailed questionnaire for the necessary details.

The roller chains we offer are pre-loaded to 30% of the nominal breaking load, and for our KMD Premium series the pre-load is 50% of the breaking load. This minimizes the possibility of the chain stretching during operation. In our central warehouse in Sofia we stock almost all sizes from 6.00 mm to 63.5 mm pitch.

„Koptchev & Sons“ Ltd. offers a complete range of roller and special chains. We can also supply any specific chain to customer drawing.
