Tyre Protection Chains

Tyre Protection Chains

Tyre protection chains effectively protect the tyres of loaders, excavators and similar machines against the extreme wear caused by sharp stones. They are recommended for work in stone quarries, mines, slag or scrap yards, etc.

Design
The design uses a proven system called “protective ring connecting the links”. Tyre protection is achieved through the large contact area between the links and the ground. The links can also increase tyre grip. The rings are the connecting elements that give tyre protection chains great flexibility.

The head shape depends on customer preference – heads of type “H”, “Z” or “U”.

Type “4”
4 protection links coming out of the ring

Type “6”
3 protection links coming out of the ring

The protective effect of the chain depends on the arrangement of the links or the number of links held by the ring.

Material and heat treatment
Protection links: chrome-molybdenum steel
Connecting rings: chrome-nickel steel
The chain is case-hardened to 0.08d (d = ring diameter)

Service life of tyre protection chains:
the approximate service life of tyre protection chains is shown in the table below.

The life of tyre protection chains is influenced in particular by:

Tyre Protection Chains – image 19  the hardness of the rock
Tyre Protection Chains – image 20  the size and angles of the rock pieces
Tyre Protection Chains – image 21  the engine power and weight of the machine
