Usually +2/3 and -1/3
T – quenched and tempered
DAT – case-hardened
DT – case-hardened, with higher surface hardness and greater case depth than DAT
Hoist chains are available in 3 qualities – T, DAT, DT
T: the chain is not case-hardened and therefore has the highest load capacity for the same size.
Application: mainly for manual hoists, where speed is lower and wear is less.
DAT: the chain is case-hardened to 0.04 mm depth, is more wear-resistant, but its load capacity is lower than T because it is hardened.
Application – for electric hoists.
DT: the chain is hardened more than DAT, to 0.05 mm depth, and has relatively the lowest load capacity of the three for the same size.
Application – for electric hoists, high speeds.
